Response (ex-Rm7).  Synthesize the components and nodes of Flow + Zanshin into a new Concept for outdoor Hyperfocus.  Call it HyperFlow.  MAGNIFY Room 8 Element 1

Response.  Test concept of HyperFlow against observations of the Object (me) in what I consider outdoor Hyperfocus.

Orientation.  Two most obvious professional ones are combat journalism and information warfare.  Two most obvious recreational ones are motorcycle riding and backcountry skiing.

Orientation.  The only one I can test easily and consistently is motorcycle riding.

Response.  Test HyperFlow against motorcycle riding through traffic on the M-25 motorway.

Orientation.  Direct match up, but with additional factors.  MAGNIFY Room 8 Object 1

  • HyperFlow is based on perceiving and interacting with energy flowing through a dynamic and uncertain – yet predictable -- environment.

  • It is a visual decision-cycle: there’s no linguistic (word-based) thought between observation and action.

  • The pivotal element is the mental map, which is visual, networked and predictive: I can anticipate and counter future actions by other drivers.  It is 4D (3D space plus time.)

Conclusion.  Based on test rides, synthesize the elements and categorize them into components that must align to trigger HyperFlow.  These are:

  • Setting: A precise and achievable goal establishes the system that must be navigated to reach it.

  • Capability: Integration of body, brain and tool into a package that both senses and projects energy.

  • Mental State: Total, confident and fluid awareness based on a 4D mental map.  MAGNIFY Room 8 Element 2

Response.  Continue testing HyperFlow’s components and elements on other experiences I associated with outdoor Hyperfocus: solo backcountry skiing, combat reporting and information warfare.
