Hyperfocus

Response (ex-Rm5).  Use HyperFocus to continue the dialectical inquiry into the concept ADHD.

Response.  Google search for definitions of “ADHD Hyperfocus.”

Observation.  First several entries are ADHD-specific or medical websites that use descriptions similar to the EU’s, often verbatim.

Observation.  Definition of Hyperfocus appears consistent across space and time.

Orientation.  This definition is not consistent with my indoor experience and still opposite to my outside Hyperfocus experience.

Observation.  Next several entries cluster around Brandon Ashinoff (England-based research psychologist specializing in ADHD and Hyperfocus.)  His 2021 paper in journal Research Psychology states there is:

“...no clear general or operational definition of hyperfocus in the literature…references to and descriptions of hyperfocus are typically anecdotal and differ from paper-to-paper.”

Conclusion.  Concept of Hyperfocus is inconsistent, internally and comparatively.

Orientation.  Yet my neurologist and I both consider Hyperfocus a central component of my ADHD diagnosis.

Response.  Are there other concepts associated with Hyperfocus?

Observation.  Ashinoff claims a strong match-up of Hyperfocus with concept of Flow.

Response.  Test Concept of Flow with Ground Truth dialectic.
